What is Jurassic Juniors Angling Club?
Join our fun and friendly fishing family.
Juniors from ages 5 to 18 can come to us for coaching in Coarse (Freshwater) fishing.
30+ events throughout the year (renewing June '27).
At the start, you do not need experience, or your own equipment as this can be provided for you.
If you are not sure about fishing but would like to try, we offer a free Taster Session (90-mins to 2-hours).
All the events take place at a variety of venues throughout West Dorset in an area of 30-miles radius from Dorchester.
For beginners, we use the Angling Trust 'Get Fishing' coaching program designed to get you fishing as quickly as possible.
Participants will be awarded a certificate where they can earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold badges.
For juniors with more experience, we use the Angling Trust 'Cast Awards'.
Participants can earn certificates over three more technically advanced levels.
In addition to these coaching programs, participants will be given tutorials on a wide variety of subjects including rig making, bait preparation, using equipment, as well as fish welfare and environmental care.
Throughout the year JJAC host junior matches where vouchers can be won for local tackle shops and, at the end of the year (May), a presentation of awards and trophies will take place for the high acheivers.
Tackle advice is on hand as is items from our Tackle Regeneration store (subject to availability).
There is never any pressure to achieve. None of the training is designed for failure.
Awards are earned at the pace of the individual.
Safeguarding and Health & Safety are paramount at JJAC events. All the coaches are DBS checked, Safeguard and first aid trained. This is all overseen by Angling Trust Certified coaches and a trained Welfare officer.
Fishing is more than a sport. For many, it is a way of life. Once an angler, always an angler.
